Alien: Earth Season 2: Release Date, Pinewood Filming & Cast News

Alien: Earth season 2 has officially begun production at London’s Pinewood Studios. The upcoming season features a newly expanded cast, including Peter Dinklage and Jerome Flynn, and is set for a 2027 release with a focus on bridging the gap to the 1979 film timeline.

Returning to the Roots

The production is moving from the tropical landscapes of Thailand (used in Season 1) over to London's historic stages, it’s a massive aesthetic pivot. Pinewood is where Ridley Scott shot the 1979 original, this means that Season 2 is doubling down on classic corridor horror. As the timeline inches closer to the voyage of the Nostromo, expect a visual style anchored in practical sets and depressing corporate architecture rather than green screens.

From Westeros to Weyland-Yutani

Weyland-Yutani are getting a major cast expansion. Peter Dinklage was already locked in, but FX just added Game of Thrones alum Jerome Flynn, Tracey Ullman, and Sam Spruell (played Prince Maekar in the HBO series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms). Roles are tightly under wraps, but pulling in actors of this weight tells us everything about the tone. We expect a season heavy on corporate backstabbing and moral ambiguity. It is easy to picture Dinklage and Flynn playing cynical executives steering the company through its earliest ethical crises.

How Season 2 Will Handle the Rise of the Hybrids

Post image

Story-wise, Hawley has to handle the fallout from the synthetic-xenomorph hybrid threat left behind on Prodigy Island. Because this narrative directly bridges the gap to the first film, things are about to get much uglier. We’re likely looking at a full-scale corporate proxy war over the biological weapon. Weyland-Yutani’s obsession with the "perfect organism" starts right here, and Season 2 will likely focus on how these initial experiments spiral out of control, forcing the company into total cover-up mode to protect its assets on Earth.

I write about science fiction through new releases and the ideas quietly shaping where the genre is headed. What pulls me in isn’t the technology itself, but what it reveals about people and the choices they make under pressure. I also have a soft spot for old sci-fi movies, especially how they built entire worlds with practical effects and early VFX long before modern tools existed. Most days I’m reading, scribbling notes, or chasing down a thought that won’t stay still until I write it out.
