Invasion Season 4 September 2026 Updates: Renewal or Cancellation

Invasion Season 4 remains unconfirmed as of September 2026, with Apple TV yet to announce whether the sci-fi series has been renewed or canceled. More than a year has passed since Season 3 aired in 2025, and the continued silence has left the show's future uncertain.

There has been no official announcement from Apple TV confirming another season, but there has also been no cancellation announcement. That means Invasion Season 4 is still technically possible, although the long wait has naturally led to questions about whether the series will continue.

Invasion Season 4 Has Not Been Renewed or Canceled

With Season 3 now more than a year in the past, fans have been waiting for an update about whether the alien invasion story will continue. The lack of news does not confirm that the show has been canceled, and there is currently no official information explaining why Apple TV has not announced a decision. For now, Season 4 should be considered unconfirmed rather than canceled. At this point, I personally think a cancellation is more likely than a Season 4 renewal. The lack of an announcement more than a year after Season 3, combined with the demanding and expensive production, makes it increasingly difficult to expect the series to return, although Apple TV has not made that decision public.

Shamier Anderson Discusses the Demands of Invasion

Shamier Anderson, who plays Trevante Cole, has provided some insight into what another season could mean for the cast. During a recent conversation with Collider, Anderson said that three seasons were already "more than enough" for him because of the enormous scale of the production, which requires filming around the world for roughly six to eight months. The actor described the opportunity to play Trevante as a gift but explained that the production can be physically demanding because of its travel schedule. He gave the example of filming one episode in Morocco before traveling to London to work on another, showing how quickly the production can move between international locations.

Anderson's comments do not amount to an announcement that he would leave the series if Season 4 happens. In fact, he also said that he loves Invasion and hopes Apple continues making it.

The Cost of Another Season Could Matter

Post image

One factor Anderson did highlight was the show's enormous production cost. Invasion is an ambitious science fiction series that relies on international locations, large-scale production and visual effects, making each season expensive to produce. Anderson said he never expected the show to continue indefinitely because of how expensive it is, although he also pointed out that Apple has the resources to fund expensive productions. If Invasion does not return, there is therefore no confirmed indication that the reason would simply be a lack of money.

Shamier Anderson Is Also Moving Into New Projects

While Invasion Season 4 remains uncertain, Anderson is already working on projects outside the series. He recently premiered Call Me Tim, an 18-minute short film at TIFF 2026 that marks his directorial debut.

The project is a deadpan mockumentary about an outsider who buys a rural hunting shop and accidentally develops a rivalry with a local animal rights activist. Anderson served as the film's writer, producer, director and lead actor, and he has expressed interest in expanding the short into a full series. He has also teased an upcoming feature project with Netflix, giving him other work while the future of Invasion remains undecided.

What Is the Status of Invasion Season 4?

As of September 2026, the official situation of Invasion Season 4 is that it has not been announced as renewed or canceled by Apple TV. The more than one-year gap since Season 3, combined with comments about the show's demanding production and high costs, provides plenty for fans to discuss, but none of those details confirms what Apple TV will ultimately decide. For now, there is no Season 4 release date, production start date or official renewal announcement. The next major update will have to come from Apple itself.

I write about science fiction through new releases and the ideas quietly shaping where the genre is headed. What pulls me in isn’t the technology itself, but what it reveals about people and the choices they make under pressure. I also have a soft spot for old sci-fi movies, especially how they built entire worlds with practical effects and early VFX long before modern tools existed. Most days I’m reading, scribbling notes, or chasing down a thought that won’t stay still until I write it out.
