Lee Pace & Laura Birn’s Future on Foundation: What We Know So Far
Fans of Foundation are buzzing after the finale of Season 3. The Cleon dynasty may be ending, but Pace and Birn might still be around!
Why Fans Are Freaking Out

Lee Pace and Laura Birn have carried the show for many viewers. A lot of fans admitted they barely made it through Season 1 but returned just for their performances. Losing them would feel like losing the heart of Foundation. I get it, without them the show might feel empty. The Cleons, Demerzel, and to some extent Hari are the anchors. Without these characters, the rest feels lightweight.
Fortunately, Hari is guaranteed to return. The bigger concern is about Day and Demerzel. In Demerzel’s case, I think she survived. The problem is whether the actress Laura Birn will continue to play her, or if they will recast when Demerzel/Daneel is “reborn from the ashes”.
In Day’s case, I believe he could return in these ways:
🔹 Dawn grows up and becomes Day.
🔹 A descendant of Dawn and Queen Sareth takes his place.
🔹 Lee Pace returns as a robot version of Cleon I.
🔹 A prequel or flashback explains his story.
🔹 Some kind of plot twist, like hidden Cleons or misplaced clones, brings him back.
Money Talks, But How Much?

Some think Apple can pay whatever Pace asks. Others argue Apple still counts pennies, even if they have billions. Budget disagreements have already caused issues behind the scenes, like cutting scenes or changing staff. Personally, I doubt money alone will decide. The actors’ leverage is huge, but Apple’s history shows they’ll try to minimize costs. If Pace demands an insane amount, maybe they’ll negotiate, but I believe they’ll want him back. He’s that important!
The Emotional Rollercoaster

Many were heartbroken after Season 3’s finale. Killing major characters in one episode left a deep hole. Some are clinging to hope that Day could return, maybe older or as part of a time skip. Others are more realistic: the story must continue, and not everyone can survive!
Can the Show Survive Without Them?

Some say yes, some say no. Empire’s storyline kept many engaged. Without Pace or Birn, would you still watch? Sure, new characters can be interesting, but the core magic comes from those performances. Personally, I’d stick around, hoping for clever writing and surprises, but the gap left would be massive!
Final Thoughts

The future of Lee Pace and Laura Birn in Foundation is uncertain, Their characters have defined the show’s best moments. Whether they stay on as actors or shift to behind-the-scenes roles, the series will feel the impact.
