FROM Season 4 Episode 3 'Merrily We Go' Recap: Crows & The Man in Yellow
The episode doesn't ease you in. A double funeral for Jim Matthews and the pastor barely gets started before a massive murder of crows descends on the ceremony, tearing through what was supposed to be a moment of mourning. The birds swarm with a kind of energy that feels wrong, almost festive, like the township itself showed up to celebrate two more bodies in the ground.
It sets the tone for everything that follows.
Tabitha Gets Caught and Gets a Warning

Tabitha tries to slip away to the Bottle Tree alone, aiming to reach the lighthouse without telling anyone. Henry catches her before she gets far and refuses to let her go without him. So together they make their way to the tree — and the Boy in White was there!
His message is short and heavy: the rules have changed. The Bottle Tree won't take Tabitha to the lighthouse anymore. Whatever path she had before has been closed off. He also tells her she's running out of time, which raises an obvious and terrifying question, running out of time for what, exactly?!
Victor Breaks Down in the Woods

Victor finds the Yellow Suit worn by the Man in Yellow abandoned in the woods.
He falls apart completely. Sobbing, screaming, runs away alone into the trees.
What looks like a breakdown is actually something more specific: confirmation. Victor has spent decades carrying memories from his childhood that most people around him have never fully believed or understood. Finding those clothes means the thing he survived as a child is here, now, physically present in the place.

Something Is Happening to Fatima
Fatima asks Elgin to bring a mound of dirt into her room at the colony house.
She has already been connected to blood in previous episodes. The dirt request doesn't come with an explanation, which makes it worse. Something is changing in her, and she either knows exactly what it is or she's following an instinct she doesn't fully understand yet!!
Boyd Keeps Everyone Moving — Including Himself
Boyd assigns Acosta a task: treat the town's storage shed as a crime scene and go through it for overlooked clues. It sounds like strategy but It's also a form of protection. Boyd knows where Acosta's head is, and giving her a focused job keeps her from acting on the suicidal thoughts she's been carrying.
He's holding people together while quietly falling apart himself.
Later, Boyd goes to visit Abby's grave. A hand shoots out from the ground and grabs him, pulling him toward the earth. He fights it off and gets away.
I first thought it was in his head, like an illusion or something, but it turned out he experienced it for real!!
Episode 3 was calm, unlike the first two episodes, which were much more shocking, but it sets the trajectory for the rest of the season.
