The second-to-last episode of a season has a tough job. It has to get everything ready for the big finale while still being exciting on its own. This week’s episode of From, titled "The Calm Before", does exactly that. It creates a super creepy feeling that makes you feel like something terrible is about to happen. We are officially heading toward the end of Season 4, and it feels like nobody in Fromville is truly safe!

In the last episode, the characters realized that just hiding from the monsters is not working anymore. In this Episode, the town finally decides to fight back, even though it means taking a terrifying risk.

Boyd's Ultimate Risk

Post image

Boyd Stevens has spent four seasons trying to protect this town by just helping people survive day by day. But this week, the danger hits an all-time high, forcing him to change his strategy. Tabitha told him that the Man in Yellow confronted her and admitted to killing Jim. Even worse, the entity was able to walk right into their house during the daytime to steal Jade's drawings. This terrifying revelation proves that this thing can move freely in the daylight and that the town's protective talismans have absolutely no effect on him.

Faced with this unstoppable threat, along with Fatima’s horrifying, unexplained medical condition, Boyd realizes they are completely out of time.

Jade and Tabitha decided to go down into the dark tunnels to look for the children's bones, while the rest of the town stays above ground on high alert. Boyd looks exhausted and desperate, but he knows he has no choice. He is sending his friends into a literal nightmare, because if they don't strike now, the Man in Yellow will eventually kill everyone left alive.

Sophia's Form and Colony House Infiltration

The Man in Yellow is messing with the characters' minds again. This week, he targets Colony House.

This part of the episode is important because it shows us the rules of the monsters. We learn that this shape-shifting monster don't know everything. When Sophia tricks Clara into revealing who is going into the tunnels, you can see a moment of surprise on her face. The monsters are smart, but they have limits.

Elgin's Polaroid and the Entity's Games

Post image

Elgin keeps making decisions that make viewers want to scream at the TV. He finds a blurry, old photograph that looks exactly like Sophia. Instead of telling anyone else, Elgin decides to walk right up to Sophia and show her the picture!!

It is a classic mistake, but Sophia's response is bone-chilling. She tells him, "I can only take the form of people who have died here". RIP Elgin!

Fatima's Transformation: A Dark Turn

Fatima's storyline has been heartbreaking all season, and in this episode, it gets much worse. Her body is breaking down in a terrifying way. Her heart rate drops so low that she shouldn't even be alive. Plus, the strange, dark marks start appearing again on her stomach. I believe that she is actually turning into one of the monsters.

Henry's Visions and the Finale Cliffhanger

While the team gets ready to go into the tunnels, the episode focuses its psychological horror on Henry. He starts hallucinating severely, seeing a fake reality where his family is perfectly healthy and happy.

Henry is losing his grip on reality, he is right on the edge of breaking down.

Meanwhile, Jade and Tabitha successfully enter the dark tunnels, secure the chamber, and dig into the ground to uncover the stone tomb of the Anghkooey children. When they slide it open, they find the bones—proving once and for all that Jade’s bizarre visions were completely real. But there is no time to celebrate. The commotion wakes up the sleeping monsters, who immediately begin swarming toward them. Right as the creatures arrive, the screen cuts to black, creating a cliffhanger that sets up the season finale.

I write about science fiction through new releases and the ideas quietly shaping where the genre is headed. What pulls me in isn’t the technology itself, but what it reveals about people and the choices they make under pressure. I also have a soft spot for old sci-fi movies, especially how they built entire worlds with practical effects and early VFX long before modern tools existed. Most days I’m reading, scribbling notes, or chasing down a thought that won’t stay still until I write it out.
