Is Invasion Worth Watching - Apple TV+ Sci-Fi Series Review & Season 3 Verdict

Humans have always been curious about aliens. Apple TV+’s Invasion shows what happens when a global alien attack is experienced through everyday people’s lives. it’s about fear, confusion, and the struggles of people trying to survive.

Invasion was created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil. Instead of focusing only on action, the show spends time on characters’ personal problems and emotions. The story takes place in different countries like the U.S., Japan, the U.K., and Afghanistan, showing how the invasion affects everyone around the world.

Season 1: A Slow Start

The first season is slow and focused on characters’ lives. Many critics said it moved too slowly and that some storylines, like love problems and school drama, didn’t really matter. The aliens were mostly hidden, and when they appeared, they looked like black blobs!

Even with these issues, the show started to explore something bigger: how humans react when they face something completely unknown.

Season 2: Stories Start to Connect

In the second season, the characters start to come together, and we learn more about the aliens’ hive mind. The story becomes more connected, but some I still felt the pace was too slow. Some characters made decisions that seemed strange or annoying, and some parts felt like filler.

Season 3: Invasion Hits Its Stride

Season 3 is where the show really shines. Critics praised it as the best season so far. The story picks up two years after Trevante Cole (Shamier Anderson) and Caspar Morrow (Billy Barratt) crashed the alien mothership, giving humanity a short period of peace. Now, new alien threats appear, forcing the heroes to go on the offensive.

The characters work together like a team, each with their own strengths. Trevante struggles to understand his time on the mothership, Aneesha Malik (Golshifteh Farahani) searches for answers after a psychic experience involving her son, and Mitsuki (Shioli Kutsuna) studies the aliens’ hive mind. Their teamwork makes the story exciting and fast-paced in key moments.

Problems That Still Remain

Even in Season 3, some problems remain. Early seasons were slow, and some characters made poor decisions or were hard to like. Marketing also misled viewers, like featuring Sam Neill heavily while his character dies in the first episode. Some special effects and continuity mistakes were noticeable, too!

Is Invasion Worth Watching?

Despite the flaws, Invasion is worth watching. It shows how humans react under pressure, how people from different places must work together, and how personal stories matter even in a global crisis. The show is more about tension, emotion, and teamwork than nonstop action.

Season 3 especially shows that patience pays off, the story is connected, the characters are stronger, and the stakes feel real. For anyone curious about alien invasions, and the challenges of survival, Invasion offers a thoughtful and exciting experience.

I’ve been obsessed with sci-fi for as long as I can remember, always getting lost in stories about the future and what humans might become. Writing lets me explore those worlds while focusing on the people living in them. Joining SciFi Spiral introduced me to a community of fellow fans, and I’ve made some amazing friends who love sci-fi just as much as I do. When I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me reading my favorite sci-fi books.
