Silo Season 3 Episode 7 "Radio" Recap: A Mission to Silo 17

The fight against the Algorithm takes a dangerous turn when Juliette sends Lukas and Patrick Kennedy outside to Silo 17. At the same time, Camille begins a terrifying plan to suppress the predicted rebellion by injecting Vitamin D+ (the memory drug) into the silo’s water supply. With lives hanging in the balance, Juliette is forced to make one of her most dangerous decisions yet.

Lukas and Kennedy Head to Silo 17

Juliette sends Lukas and Patrick Kennedy outside to retrieve blueprints showing the Safeguard pipe structure inside Silo 17, which would be the same as the one in Silo 18. They are originally supposed to leave at dawn, but they decide to go early because Sims secretly warns Juliette that guards are protecting the water supply, meaning Camille is already injecting the Vitamin D+ into it. The hope is that leaving ahead of schedule will help them avoid the Safeguard when they act against the Algorithm.

The journey immediately affects the two men differently. Kennedy is horrified by the emptiness surrounding them, while Lukas is fascinated by the sight above him. That scene makes me feel like I am watching two astronauts discovering a different planet; it is a beautiful moment.

For Lukas, seeing the stars is almost overwhelming. He has spent his entire life studying them, and now they're shining above him. It is one of the episode’s quietest moments, but it says a lot about the dystopian world these characters are living in. However, that wonder doesn't last long.

The Algorithm Attacks

As Lukas and Kennedy approach Silo 17, something begins targeting them. Automated gun turrets or drones attack from a distance, putting the pair in serious danger, and their radio feed suddenly cuts out.

The Algorithm then tells Camille that both men have been “neutralized.” Camille later tries to lie to Jules, saying that their suits malfunctioned because of the rush. However, Juliette already heard the gunshots over the radio and tells her, “We should've given them more time to make the suits bulletproof.”

Gloria Returns with a Warning from the Past

Bernard reveals that Gloria Hildebrandt has been kept off her medication and secretly working with him.

Gloria gives Juliette Mission's diary, written by a rebel named Mission who lived around 140 years earlier. The diary describes how a man slowly lost his ability to think after being exposed to memory-suppressing drugs. The diary finally changes Juliette's mind; she now understands that the current rebellion could disappear without a single battle if Camille's plan succeeds. The people might wake up one day and no longer remember what they were fighting for. That pushes Juliette toward a much more extreme solution.

Juliette Approves the Plan to Bomb Judicial

Believing Lukas and Kennedy are dead, their plan to get the Silo 17 Safeguard blueprint is now out the window, so they have to come up with another plan. Teddy proposes destroying the Safeguard pipes hidden inside the Judicial department. If the pipes are destroyed, the silo's ability to use the system against them could be severely damaged, but the problem is the location. Destroying the pipes could cause the poison to leak into nearby levels and kill hundreds of innocent people. Juliette understands the risk, but after learning more about Vitamin D+, she gives Teddy the signal to proceed. This is a brutal choice for Juliette.

Kennedy and Lukas are Alive

Just as Teddy is preparing to detonate the explosives, Martha receives a radio transmission. It is Kennedy; he and Lukas survived the mysterious attack, and Kennedy confirms that they are now inside Silo 17.

Martha immediately orders Teddy to cancel the bombing because the original plan is still on! The timing could not have been closer. Teddy was moments away from setting off an explosion that might have caused a massive tragedy.

Knox Learns the Truth About His Father

Elsewhere, Knox receives a shocking revelation from Mark that his father did not actually die. Instead, he faked his death with Ed's help, leaving another person to be buried in his place.

That discovery gives Knox a personal reason to keep digging, even as the larger conflict around him becomes more dangerous.

The Truth About the First Silos

This episode gives us more insight into the past than the last two. Senator Thurman and Henry take Helen and Daniel to a massive construction site owned by billionaire Per Stensen. They see an enormous drilling machine carving deep into the earth, creating what appears to be the first silos.

The vibe of the people involved in this project—Henry, Senator Thurman, Per Stensen, and Victor—and the way they talk make me feel like the silos are less like emergency shelters and more like part of a much bigger plan.

The Rebellion Is Running Out of Time

This episode raises more questions about who controls the automated defenses outside the silos, and now that the memory-suppression plan is already underway, Juliette cannot afford to wait.
