Why Is Robert Sims Saving Juliette & Bernard In Silo Season 3?

For two seasons, Robert Sims felt untouchable. He was the cold face of Judicial, the man who enforced order without hesitation. He didn’t question the system, actually, he was the system.

Season 3, Episode 4 breaks that image completely! Robert Sims is no longer the Silo’s loyal enforcer. He’s something far more dangerous—a man working against the system from the inside. This shift is one of the boldest character turns the show has pulled off so far, and honestly, it works. It makes Sims ten times more interesting.

The Fractured Home

Sims was already moving against the system. What happens at home confirms he’s on the right path. His relationship with Camille once felt unbreakable because they shared the same beliefs. That falls apart the moment she fully commits to the Algorithm and its plan to spread the memory-wiping D+ drug.

Rob sees it clearly, their son Anthony is no longer safe—not from rebels but from the system itself. From this point on, there’s no going back.

Protecting Bernard

The biggest twist in episode 4 is that Robert Sims never killed Bernard! It was a false flashback when he lied to Juliette (and Camille) in the first episode.

At first, the show wants you to believe he did, but it’s all a setup. Rob faked the execution, used a decoy body, and hid Bernard deep in the Digger Void. Think about what that means, he’s been planning this for a while. He outplayed Judicial, the surveillance system, and even Camille. That’s insane when you consider how controlled the Silo is.

Keeping Bernard alive is a power move. Bernard knows too much, and Sims knows he’ll need that knowledge later.

Why Sims Needs Juliette Alive

When Sims says, “I’ll take care of her,” you expect the worst. That’s who he’s been for two seasons. But instead, he does the opposite.

He secretly protects Jules, using Nurse Amy (the nurse that have history with her father), Sims makes sure Jules doesn’t receive the D+ pills. He keeps her mind intact. That’s the key detail, he’s preserving her ability to fight back. Rob knows Juliette is the only real threat to the system Camille is guarding. He needs her alive, aware, and rebellious. So, he plays the villain in public. That’s what makes this so compelling. He hasn’t stopped being dangerous, just changed targets!

The Rise of the Anti-Hero

Sims’ arc flips the usual sci-fi formula! The villain doesn’t just get redeemed. He becomes a strategist, a father, and a rebel all at once, and he still carries the weight of everything he’s done.

He protected and enforced the very system that now threatens his family. Now he has to destroy it from the inside. And that’s exactly why it works, right now, Robert feels like the most unpredictable character in the show. You can’t fully trust him, you also can’t ignore him! Personally, I think that’s what Season 3 needed, a character who sits in the gray area and forces the story forward. Whether he ends up redeemed or sacrificed, one thing is clear, Robert Sims is no longer the monster we thought he was.
