The finale of FROM Season 4 is one of those episodes you have to rewatch—one watch is simply not enough. It’s packed with sadness, fear, confusion, and truly heartbreaking moments.

Nightfall at Midday and the Red Lightning

Post image

As the bottle tree is uprooted so Jade and Tabitha can escape, a massive earthquake rattles Fromville, causing dangerous collapses and triggering a vicious storm with red lightning. While Jade and Tabitha are trapped in the dark tunnels, night falls in the middle of the day—another mystery the writers throw at viewers. As always, their pattern continues: one mystery gets resolved, and three or four more are unlocked.

On the bright side, it seems extracting the bones is the right path, as it clearly affects the place. But the bigger question is—what’s next? What should they do with the children’s bones? I believe we’ll get those answers in Season 5, the final season.

The Death of Marielle

During our interview with Chloe Van Landschoot (Kristi), she mentioned, "Some scenes in Episode 10 were definitely the most challenging for me this season, but that hasn’t aired yet so I have to stay very shhh about it!"—and this is that scene.

The earthquake dislodges the protective talisman at the clinic, allowing the creature Smiley to enter. Smiley corners Marielle and Fatima, referring to Fatima as "Mother" before brutally disemboweling Marielle. Marielle survives long enough to share a final kiss with Kristi, eventually dying in her arms as the sun rises.

Elgin’s Sacrifice and Gruesome End

Elgin might have seemed a bit dumb in Episode 9 when he went to Sophia to share his strange discovery of her old photo, but he showed real courage by refusing to work with her against the people of the town. I honestly thought he was dead the moment he revealed the photo, but it seems the Man in Yellow wants to use people for something—another mystery we still don’t understand.

Fatima’s Ultimate Sacrifice

Post image

In the final scenes of the finale, Fatima undergoes an involuntary transformation into a creature, even screaming back at them in the same way they do. During a rescue mission in the tunnels to save Jade and Tabitha, Fatima chooses to stay behind to hold off the monsters, fully embracing her transformation so her family—and Jade and Tabitha—can escape.

When she said, "remember who I was," my eyes started tearing up. Has she joined them, and we lost her? Or is she still there, somehow able to help the residents? I believe that line means we’ve truly lost Fatima.

Fromville Rendered Defenseless

While the townspeople are distracted by the earthquake and the rescue mission, Sophia and Clara move through the town to steal every single talisman. By the end of the episode, the residents of Fromville are left completely vulnerable to the creatures—though most of them haven’t yet realized their protection is gone.

The Man in Yellow vs. The Boy in White

In the season’s closing moments, Sophia encounters the Boy in White in the woods. After a brief exchange where he warns her that she will "lose this time," Sophia defiantly dumps the stolen talismans into a Faraway Tree. This act sets the stage for a final showdown in the upcoming fifth and final season.

My rating for FROM Season 4 is 7.9/10.

I’ve been obsessed with sci-fi for as long as I can remember. Writing lets me explore those worlds while focusing on the people living in them. Isaac Asimov’s books especially got me through some of my harder times, and they still stick with me in a way I can’t really explain. Joining SciFi Spiral introduced me to a community of fellow fans, and I’ve made some amazing friends who love sci-fi just as much as I do. When I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me reading my favorite sci-fi books.
