NYCC 2026: Daryl Dixon Season 4 Release Date & The End Of A TWD Era

Remember when I tweeted that October 9th would give us answers? Well, the AMC panel at NYCC just ended, and the Walking Dead universe is definitely shifting gears. While AMC kept quiet about Dead City Season 4 and the TWD universe future, they went all-in on Daryl Dixon. Since the panel focused entirely on the show's final roadmap, fans still got exactly what they were waiting for.

Here are the biggest updates from tonight's panel:

Daryl Dixon Season 4 Premieres in February 2027

We finally have an official timeline for Daryl and Carol's final chapter. AMC announced at the panel that the fourth and final season of Daryl Dixon is locked in for February 2027. The final season had faced some unexpected delays behind the scenes, pushing it out of its original 2026 window. But now we know we only have a few months left to wait before the show heads to Spain to wrap up this international journey.

New Teaser Trailer Celebrates 15 Years of Daryl and Carol

AMC treated the NYCC crowd to a brand new teaser trailer that hits right in the feelings, then after the event, they published it publicly. The footage heavily focuses on the massive 15-year history and emotional bond between Daryl and Carol. They are fighting hard to get back home to America, but they keep running into chaos. It is clear that their relationship is going to be the emotional core of this final ride.

The Original Walking Dead Series Moves to AMC+

Scott M. Gimple also took the stage to drop a huge streaming update for the franchise. Starting January 7th, all 11 seasons plus all the spinoffs of the Walking Dead series will officially be available to stream on AMC+. This is a smart move by AMC, bringing the entire universe under one roof right before the final season of Daryl Dixon kicks off in February.

Season 4 is Going to Destroy Us

Post image

Norman Reedus directly warned the crowd that this final season is going to be incredibly sad and heartbreaking. Honestly, hearing him say that instantly made me think back to the Daryl Dixon Season 4 leaks from 3 months ago. A lot of fans have been asking me about that leaked footage, but I can't actually share it here due to strict DMCA copyright risk—plus, I really don't want to spoil the show for anyone. But seeing Melissa get emotional on stage tonight basically confirms it. When the show officially wraps up in Spain, we are all going to be crying right along with her.

The Verdict on the Universe's Future

Before the panel started, I was really hoping we would get some fresh announcements about where the wider Walking Dead universe is heading next. It would have been wild to get a Dead City Season 4 update or a teaser for a brand new project. Unfortunately, AMC kept completely quiet on that front and shared absolutely nothing about the future outside of Daryl's show.

While it sucks that we didn't get those bigger answers on stage, I didn't want to leave you guys empty-handed after a pretty quiet panel. I did some digging right after it ended and reached out to some people I know who are close to TWD production to see if they could give me anything, and this is what I got: Season 4 of Daryl Dixon is not only the end of this specific series, but it is also maybe the end of an era for the entire The Walking Dead franchise, and a brand new one is going to take its place. Take this with a grain of salt for now, but if it's true, then let's just hope the next era learns from the old one's mistakes and takes the franchise back to its peak. Until then, David Zabel confirming that Genet’s crazy variant walkers are spreading into Spain still gives us plenty of wild action to look forward to.

About The Author

I’ve been obsessed with sci-fi for as long as I can remember. Writing lets me explore those worlds while focusing on the people living in them. Isaac Asimov’s books especially got me through some of my harder times, and they still stick with me in a way I can’t really explain. Joining SciFi Spiral introduced me to a community of fellow fans, and I’ve made some amazing friends who love sci-fi just as much as I do. When I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me reading my favorite sci-fi books.
